Let me take a moment of your time to introduce Our Family - Our Giants, and brag of our dedication to the breed!
I am a former animal cruelty investigator, with much knowledge of many breeds, including mix breeds. I am a registered C.G.C instructor. I am a mother of eight : 16mnths,3yrs,4yrs,6yrs,9yrs,and15yrs (whom thinks she's 35)! We are expecting a baby in Oct 2011 ( Baby was born : ).Many of my kids are adopted, and have disabilities or challenges. So to say the least our Giants are raised with LOTS of children and receive lots of attention and play. You can see why TEMPERAMENTS of the giants is OUR FIRST and Foremost Goal!!
When I first learned of the breed, I couldn't be more eager to learn of their loyalty, and personality. What a remarkable reflection of a "perfect" companion. I wondered was this giant an exception or was this the breed as a whole. Over the next 14 yrs I discovered much on this breed !! I had ups and downs as a beginner, faults and mistakes that I am eager to share with others wanting to learn. My experience is "
My Promise: to myself after such privation and trial to learn and raise this breed became a promise to live and grow by! I promised to be loyal and excepting of others,& their questions of the giants. To be honest, and share my joy and learning’s, never to cut a conversation short because of a monetary outline. I promised to raise and sell "My Babies" reasonable for the average family.
I finally got "My Start" from a Highly Respectable Show Kennel, In CA. That had raised and bred over a thousand Champions. With good genetics, and awesome temperaments. Our hobby and love of the Giants has grown over the last 16 yrs. Thanks to Skansen Kennels. Our Gorgeous " Emperor" started our breeding line.
We welcome calls and Questions, and love to offer our experiences with you! Feel Free to call us, and Talk Schnauzers !! We are committed to better the breed. We strive to produce the American Profuse Soft Coats, with glamour and confirmation! How ever we are very willing to talk of the "German Hard coats, and the Mixed coats as well. We will openly tell you of the pro's and con's of the ownership of the Breed in a whole..
"Let's not measure a breeders success by the amount of winnings their dogs do in the show ring, but by the number of dogs that stay with
the families that purchased them as a pup… and that die in the arms of that same family years later. In that case, we have three winners,
the breeder, the family and most importantly, the dog." ~unknown
Before you buy a puppy
Before you buy a puppy, please do your research about the breed you are considering. Not all breeds are the right fit for everyone. The internet has opened up the world for research.
Many people make the mistake of purchasing a puppy just because "it's pretty" a pretty dog isn't always the best dog for each household.
Talk to different breeders or people that have experience with the breed you are considering. If a breeder tells you that the breed has no faults, they are lying to you. ALL breeds have some type of fault.
Remember, buying a puppy is a long term commitment! Puppies only stay "cute" for a few months. All puppies will go through a "terrible twos" stage and, during this time, it can be very challenging.
I strongly recommend that EVERYONE take their puppy to puppy classes, even the experienced owner will learn new things.
Things to consider: Do you have adequate time to spend with your puppy? Do you have a dog sitter to care for your puppy when you are away? Do you have an big enough yard with adequate fencing? Do you have a Vet? What about for emergencies? Do you have a trainer? Are you financially able to care for you new puppy? Does your entire family agree with the purchase of the new puppy?
Most importantly, are willing to commit to this puppy for the next 10-15 years?
All puppies are sold with NO-or limited registration. Full is available to approved homes. Conditions do apply. Please contact me for details.
